Democratic Congresswoman says Lindsey Graham is clearly ‘compromised’

Omar

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), the first Somali-American congresswoman, maintained that she believes Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has somehow been “compromised” because of his toady behavior toward President Donald Trump.

Omar made the claim in response to a tweet featuring a 2015 video of Graham calling Trump a racist bigot for proposing a Muslim travel ban.

During an interview on CNN Thursday morning, Omar defended her claim.

“Over the last three years, we have seen many times where Senator Lindsey Graham has told us how dangerous this president could be if he was given the opportunity to be in the White House,” she said. “All of a sudden he has made not only a 180° turnaround, but a 360° turn around.”

Indeed, Graham routinely trashed Trump during the campaign and into his first year in the White House.

“I think he’s a kook,” Graham said in February 2016. “I think he’s crazy. I think he’s unfit for office.”

“ISIL would be dancing in the streets,” he said in another statement on what would happen if Trump won.

“You know how you make America great again?” he asked at another moment. “Tell Donald Trump to go to hell.”

And then there’s this tweet from May 2016:

Graham has since flipped in support of Trump and just about everything he does, from trying to protect him from the Mueller investigation to defending Trump’s government shutdown and supporting the wall even though he rejected the wall in 2017.

“He is somehow compromised to no longer stand up for the truth and to make sure that he is fighting to protect the oath that he took in serving the American people,” Omar continued.

Omar concluded by pointing out that the tweet is her opinion.

“My tweet was just an opinion based on what I believe to be visible to me,” she said. “And I’m pretty sure there are lots of Americans who agree on this.”

Here’s the video via Twitter.

It turns out that Graham could be compromised by Russia since an oligarch with close ties to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin donated nearly $1 million to Graham’s campaigns dating back ten years. Could Graham be desperate to hide what Russia has on him by all of a sudden siding with Trump? It sure looks that way considering Graham voted to kill a bill that would have blocked Trump from lifting sanctions against three Russian companies with ties to Putin.

Omar may not have evidence to prove that Graham is compromised but she is saying what most Americans are thinking right now, and his behavior and actions are not doing him any favors to dispel the suspicions.
