Despite President Donald Trump’s repeated insistence that Russia is not targeting our democratic process, the FBI is now publicly contradicting his stance and doing something to stop them from interfering with the 2020 Election.
Even though the Mueller report clearly states that Russia targeted the 2016 Election to help Trump win, he still claims that Russia didn’t attack us after two years of trying to obstruct the investigation from finding the truth about the attack.
Russia tried attacking the 2018 Election to help Republicans in November, but they failed because the United States military shut down a Russian troll farm to keep them from meddling.
And Homeland Security has been taking measures to stop future interference from Russia, even going so far as to not tell Trump about it out of fear that he would stop their effort.
Now, FBI Director Christopher Wray is publicly warning that Russia is targeting the 2020 Election in the hopes for a repeat result.
According to the New York Times:
The FBI director warned anew on Friday about Russia’s continued meddling in American elections, calling it a “significant counterintelligence threat.” The bureau has shifted additional agents and analysts to shore up defenses against foreign interference, according to a senior FBI official.

“We recognize that our adversaries are going to keep adapting and upping their game,” Christopher A. Wray, the FBI director, said Friday in a speech in Washington, citing the presence of Russian intelligence officers in the United States and the Kremlin’s record of malign influence operations.
“So we are very much viewing 2018 as just kind of a dress rehearsal for the big show in 2020,” he said in his remarks at the Council on Foreign Relations.

But it’s likely Trump will do everything he can to let Russia interfere with the 2020 Election. As retired Lt. Colonel Ralph Peters pointed out earlier this week, Trump is so terrified of going to prison once he leaves the White House that he will do anything to stay in power, including allow a hostile foreign power attack our democratic process on his behalf.
Hopefully, the FBI, Homeland Security and our military will ignore Trump and do their duty to defend America from Russian attacks. This election is too important and must be decided by Americans alone. If Trump won’t allow that, he should be disqualified from even being on the ballot and ousted from office immediately and replaced with someone who will actually take our national security seriously.
