Joe Scarborough unloads on Trump over offensive 9/11 tweet

Joe Scarborough took a moment on Saturday to bury President Donald Trump for posting an offensive 9/11 tweet meant to serve as propaganda against Rep. Ihlan Omar (D-Minn.), which is now bowing up in Trump’s face.

Omar delivered a speech to the Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR) this week and gave a general description of the 9/11 attacks to point out that the organization jumped to action in the aftermath to help people.

Of course, Trump’s edited version makes it seem like Omar doesn’t care about 9/11 while portraying her words as an attack on America.

But Trump’s post has since backfired as Twitter users pointed out that Trump himself disgraced the victims of 9/11 on the same day they died.

Scarborough noted that Trump literally bragged about a building he owns becoming the tallest building in New York City shortly after the World Trade Center towers collapsed into a pile of rubble.

Indeed, Trump’s reaction to 9/11 is forever on video.

“40 Wall Street actually was the second tallest building in downtown Manhattan, and it was actually, before the World Trade Center, was the tallest,” Trump can be heard saying via phone interview. “And then, when they built the World Trade Center, it became known as the second tallest. And now it’s the tallest.”

As for never forgetting, Trump forgot the date of the attacks during a campaign rally.

“I wrote this out, and it’s very close to my heart,” Trump began. “Because I was down there and I watched our police and our firemen down on 7/11, down at the World Trade Center right after it came down.”

If it was so “close” to his heart and he “wrote this out,” why did Trump mess up the date? It is etched in the memories of every American who witnessed the tragedy unfold, yet he couldn’t even be bothered to make sure he got it right during his remarks.

Trump is exploiting 9/11 and politicizing it to use against his opponents and critics in an effort to gin up hate and fear against Democrats and Muslims. We haven’t seen such a shameful use of 9/11 since Rudy Giuliani couldn’t stop saying 9/11 every chance he got for political gain.
