New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) decided to give Ivanka Trump a lesson in what working Americans really want Tuesday, just hours after the president’s daughter asserted that most workers don’t want a living wage.
During an interview with Fox News, Mrs. Trump commented:
“People want to work for what they get. So, I think that this idea of a guaranteed minimum is not something most people want.”
Ocasio-Cortez wasted no time reminding Ivanka that lots of people have to actually work for a living, unlike the first daughter, who was born with silver spoon in her mouth:
As a person who actually worked for tips & hourly wages in my life, instead of having to learn about it 2nd-hand, I can tell you that most people want to be paid enough to live.

In fact, wages are so low today compared to actual worker productivity that they are no longer the reflections of worker value as they used to be.

And it didn’t take long before others joined the debate and let Ivanka know they do indeed want to earn a wage they can pay their bills and raise their children on:
“People want to work for what they get” is not an argument against a jobs guarantee – it’s an argument for an increased estate tax.

The minimum wage in all states are a complete joke when you compare them to cost of living. No one is asking to live some lavish life but being able to not live paycheck to paycheck. To be able to afford a financial cushion, is something that should be a given. No debate needed!!

Ivanka Trump is so clueless that she actually had the nerve to say that Americans would rather struggle financially making $7.25 an hour than be paid $15 an hour and be forced to live with the fact that the government helped them receive a living wage.
Maybe Ivanka needs to stick to topics she knows something about: Being a spoiled brat who’s never had to work a day in her life and using overseas slave labor to manufacture he clothing line.
