9/11 first responder calls McConnell and Trump out for lying about helping them

Two first responders from New York City who were among those that assisted in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center said Tuesday on CNN that they’re frustrated by foot-dragging by Republicans to pass legislation that would provide care for those who were injured on that fateful day. And one of them accused President Donald Trump of lying about a meeting he said he was having on the subject.

During an interview with Chuck Todd, host of “Meet the Press,” Trump praised former “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart and said he had a meeting planned on the issue:

“Memorials have been built. Tremendous amounts of money, but there are still people that are sick and I have a meeting on it next week.”

CNN host Alisyn Camerota asked the first responders who appeared on “New Day” about that so-called meeting:

“So that would be this week. What’s the meeting that he has?”

John Feal commented:

“I’m privileged to pretty much everything and I know of no meeting, I don’t know how else to say that.”

Camerota asked again for clarification:

“You have heard of no meeting that would involve anybody on your side on your team with the president?”

Feal reiterated his earlier response:

“No, ma’am, there’s no meeting yet, and frankly, the White House isn’t even needed yet. Let them deal with that when we get past the Senate and let the president sign this bill into law. Right now we’re focused on a meeting with Mitch McConnell, and then anything that happens after that, the White House can get involved.

“There’s no meeting. If there was a meeting, it would have been someone on the Republican side, and there’s no meeting.”

Perhaps it shouldn’t surprise any of us that President Trump has been caught in yet another lie, especially as it relates to 9/11. After all, this is the same Donald Trump who said he lost “hundreds of friends” in the twin towers when Al Qaeda attacked them. He didn’t.

Trump has also claimed that he helped pull survivors out of the rubble after the terror attack on September 11:

Yep, that’s a lie, too. There’s nothing Trump won’t lie about, even when it involves heroes who deserve to be respected and treated for their illnesses.

There is no meeting, there is no interest from this president on anything that doesn’t directly affect him. He’s a malignant narcissist and a pathological liar.
