Ana Navaro of “The View” has had quite enough of President Donald Trump’s endless attacks on the late John McCain, and she let fly with a sustained verbal fusillade against the president Thursday.
On Thursday, Trump claimed no one had thanked him for giving McCain the funeral he wanted, and that’s where Navarro began:
“First of all, John McCain didn’t get the funeral that he wanted, he got the funeral that he deserved. He got the funeral that he earned through more than 60 years of service, and sacrifice and pain for this country, something that Donald Trump knows nothing about, because for more than 70 years it’s been all about Trump for him.”
Literally shaking with rage, Navarro then added:
“Number two, he didn’t approve anything other than the plane, which they could have gotten themselves. It was Congress who allowed John McCain to lay in state. It was the National Cathedral that allowed John McCain’s mass to be held there.”
But it was what Navarro said next that’s worth noting, because it speaks to the larger problem of just how much Trump lies:
‘Number three, he also said that John McCain had not done anything for veterans, that John McCain had failed in getting choice and accountability for many decades. Lie. You pathological president, liar, liar, liar. John McCain and Bernie Sanders passed the choice and accountability act in 2014. It was signed by Barack Obama while you were calling into question his citizenship.”
Before she was finished, Navarro also shredded Republicans for refusing to stand up to Trump and demand that he apologize for his comments about McCain:
“They think he is like Lord Voldemort, and if they mention his name, he will come down and strike them dead politically.
“Most of them with notable exceptions like Mitt Romney and Johnny Isaacson have been too damned cowardly to call out the guy making the attacks. The silence and complicity of the Republican Party is enabling Donald Trump to cheapen the White House.”
Bravo, Ana! It needs to be said over and over again. Donald Trump is a bully and a liar. He is a threat to everything this country stands for. And he’s a coward, just like the vast majority of his party.
