President Donald Trump savagely attacked Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) for not voting to repeal the Affordable Care Act last year.
During his speech at CPAC, Trump blew his own horn repeatedly by running through his list of so-called accomplishments, which include a tax law that adds trillions to the deficit while giving wealthy individuals and corporations more money and also repealed the individual mandate that required every American to have health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

Trump claimed that he is rolling out cheaper healthcare plans and declared that Obamacare forces people to “pay to not have healthcare.” Of course, that’s a lie since millions of Americans have healthcare thanks to the Affordable Care Act. Obamacare plans are also available to everyone.
Trump and the Republicans in Congress tried for months to repeal Obamacare outright but humiliatingly failed each and every time. In July, Republicans brought a repeal bill to a vote and McCain dramatically killed it with a thumbs down motion as he voted against it not long after he was diagnosed with brain cancer.
Clearly, Trump still seethes over McCain’s vote, because he whined about it at CPAC. While giving a thumbs down, Trump said:
“And except for one senator who came into a room at 3 o’clock in the morning and went like that. … We would have had healthcare too.”
Trump assured the crowd that it doesn’t matter because he intends to dismantle Obamacare piece by piece, but then went right back to attacking McCain.
“Remember, one person walked into a room, when he was supposed to go this way, and he said he was going this way, and he walked in ,and he went this way and everyone said, ‘What happened? What was that all about?’ Boy, oh, boy. Who was that? I don’t know. I don’t want to be controversial, so I won’t use his name. Okay. What a mess. But, it is all happening anyway. It is all happening anyway.”
The crowd viciously booed McCain as Trump smirked.

Let’s not forget that Trump repeatedly attacked and insulted McCain on the campaign trail and even after taking office. Yet, Trump actually expected McCain to be his ally after dragging his good name through the mud.
If Trump wanted McCain as a friend and ally, he should have treated him like a friend and ally. Instead, he treated McCain like conservatives treat most veterans, like shit unless they can be used as political props.
In case Trump and conservatives need to be reminded, McCain is a war hero who is battling cancer. He served during the Vietnam War when Trump would not and was tortured by the enemy while Trump slept around. The fact that conservatives are booing McCain while cheering for Trump is absolutely galling and they should all be ashamed of themselves.
