Eric Cantor Shames GOP For Supporting Roy Moore (VIDEO)

Former House Republican leader Eric Cantor chimed in about Roy Moore, and he is very disappointed.

We all know that several women have accused Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore of sexual assault, including a woman who was only 14-years-old at the time of the abuse.

Many Republicans, including Mitch McConnell, called for Moore to step aside. But they have since thrown their support back to Moore, especially after Donald Trump endorsed him.

Even the RNC has restored funding to Moore’s campaign after previously withdrawing it.

Obviously, Republicans care more about a Senate seat than they do about victims of sexual assault.

Former GOP Rep. Eric Cantor is disgusted by his party’s abandonment of moral standards.

During an interview on CNN with Chris Cuomo, Cantor was asked his opinion on the Republican party backing the accused child molester.

“It bothers me,” Cantor said. “I think he deserves to lose. I think that when people elect folks to public office they expect their leaders to live to a much higher standard and that’s what ought to be maintained.”

Cantor reflected back on his own time as a House leader and claimed that he didn’t tolerate that kind of behavior then and that he wouldn’t tolerate it now.

“When I was in office as Majority Leader I had the policy of zero tolerance for any of this kind of stuff.

Cantor then agreed that Alabama voters would have to decide, but hoped they would not abandon the morality conservatives have preached about for so many years.

“Absolutely it bothers me,” Cantor continued. “I think we ought to maintain that moral standard that I believe our party is about.”

At least Eric Cantor has enough integrity to reject Roy Moore and call out his party. It’s just too bad that other Republicans won’t do the same. Of course, one wonders how he would react if he were still in office.

Roy Moore should not be allowed to step one toe in the Senate. The allegations against him should be taken seriously, and that means he should be disqualified from serving in public office. It would be a travesty if he were to win. But at least it would prove beyond a shadow of a doubt just how sick and twisted the Republican Party has become. In the words of Morning Joe, the GOP will be known as the “party of pedophiles.”
