As President Donald Trump seeks personal vengeance against his critics for analyzing his connections with Russia, “Fox & Friends” urged him to put former CIA Director John Brennan at the top of his list.
Brennan’s experience in the CIA is valuable and his wealth of knowledge gave him a sought-after perspective on the Russia investigation. After all, Trump’s 2016 campaign did have multiple contacts with Russians while Brennan served as director under former President Barack Obama.
But on Thursday morning, Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade claimed that an anonymous source within the CIA allegedly told him that Brennan is connected to the Steele dossier and its inclusion in intelligence reports.
Now would be a good time to point out that intelligence agencies include lots of different types of documents to put together assessments, including dossiers given to them by intelligence officials from nations we are allied with.
The fact is that parts of the Steele dossier have been verified, and if Brennan did include it in intelligence reports, he had every reason to do so. No self-respecting intelligence official will just ignore potential intel just because some of it is unverified. That’s why we have agents to seek verification.
Kilmeade, however, suggested Brennan be Trump’s top target for revenge.
“I do have somebody within the CIA who I’ve gotten friendly with, to say to me that if you want to know where this goes, look at Brennan’s link to Steele,” Kilmeade claimed. “And that was the first time I even thought about that, but they have a long relationship.”
“You’re talking to a CIA spy?!” co-host Steve Doocy replied.
“No, it’s the CIA working on our side,” Kilmeade said.
Here’s the video via Twitter.

First, it’s absolutely frightening that there are CIA agents who are “working for” what Kilmeade calls “our side,” which presumably means the conservative Trump extremist movement.
Furthermore, doesn’t Trump hate anonymous sources? Surely he won’t take Kilmeade seriously since he used an anonymous source.
Who are we kidding? We all know Trump only hates anonymous sources when those sources are against him. He’ll likely have no problem with this source because he’s a hypocrite who wants any reason to persecute his critics and political opponents.
