During a discussion of the controversial decision by Israel to deny entry to Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) last week, a guest on “The Ingraham Angle” said Monday evening that the two Muslim members of Congress have “Holocaust envy.”
Dr. Qanta Ahmed, from the Council on Foreign Relations, began her remarks with this:
“What you are seeing is a full-blown Islamist propaganda. These are professional victim-mongering women who unfortunately have been elected to Congress but are using every tool in the playbook of the Muslim Brotherhood of Islamists.”
As you might expect, Ingraham agreed wholeheartedly:
“That is a brilliant point. It’s easy to kind of be upset and angry about the political Islamist approach to these issues and it’s kind of instinctive for me to defend Israel. But you are right. Dr Ahmed, they could be change agents.”
And that was all the encouragement Ahmed needed to begin spinning and disgusting (not to mention deeply offensive) conspiracy theory about Reps. Omar and Tlaib:
“They are using Islamist tactics to invert reality. What they’re seeking, they have a grotesque Holocaust envy. And just hear me out on that.”
Holocaust envy? What in the world does that even mean? Ahmed was only too happy to try and justify her accusation, continuing:
“Islamists envy what they see as the special mark upon the Jewish people, that is the membership of genocide. It’s a terrible thing that befell the Jewish people, but Islamists envy it, they want to take over and appear the most persecuted, the most victimized, the most disadvantaged, while they deny the Holocaust and the existence of Israel. This is why you are seeing this, there is nothing genuine about these politicians. I don’t care whether they were Democrats or Republicans. The question is, where is the Speaker of the House? Where is Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi to not just reprimand them, silence, and marginalize them? That’s what I’m upset about.”
Wait a minute! Nancy Pelosi is supposed to deny other members of Congress their First Amendment right to criticize another country and its policies? Since when is that the way things work?
In their attempt to defend President Donald Trump and Israeli President Benjamin Nethanyahu, conservatives are apparently willing to suspend the right of free speech as long as it serves their purposes. It’s a dangerous move, and it only serves to undercut their argument.
