White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders cemented her legacy as a liar and attack dog for President Donald Trump’s corrupt and criminal administration on Monday by attacking former FBI Director James Comey on Twitter.

After emerging from a House committee hearing, during which he once again answered frivolous questions about Hillary Clinton’s emails and the Steele dossier, Comey tore into Republicans for ignoring Trump’s assault on the rule of law and the FBI.

“[T]he president of the United States is lying about the FBI, attacking the FBI and attacking the rule of law of this country,” Comey told reporters. “Republicans used to understand that the actions of a president matter. The words of a president matter, the rule of law matters and the truth matters. Where are those Republicans today? At some point, someone has to stand up and in the face of fear of Fox News, fear of their base, fear of mean tweets, stand up for the values of this country and not slink away into retirement, but stand up and speak the truth.”

Indeed, Republicans have turned a blind eye to Trump’s attacks and his legal problems, which includes being an unindicted co-conspirator known as “Individual 1” in court documents because he coordinated with and directed Michael Cohen to commit campaign finance felonies. In addition, every entity or organization Trump has ever led is now under investigation as the walls close in under the weight of the Russia investigation conducted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Republicans’ refusal to stand up to Trump makes them complicit.

But Huckabee Sanders lashed out at Comey in response on the official Press Secretary Twitter account, hurling slanderous accusations against Comey and praising Trump like a good little sycophant.

The FBI cleared Clinton twice in 2016 and even a Republican review of the email scandal resulted in zero charges.

Furthermore, accusing the former FBI Director of leaking is a serious accusation that Trump, nor Huckabee Sanders, have offered any evidence to prove.

As for so-called FISA abuse, there’s no evidence of that either and it has been repeatedly debunked, including by Trump’s own Justice Department.

Also, Trump did not fire Comey because of his handling of the Clinton investigation. He very specifically said he fired him because of the Russia investigation, once during an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt and once in the Oval Office to the Russian ambassador and foreign minister.

James Comey refused to kill an investigation Trump asked him to abandon shortly after becoming president, and he fired him for it because that investigation threatened Trump and his associates, particularly Michael Flynn, who got caught and made a plea deal for lying to the FBI and has since cooperated heavily with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who would not have been appointed had Trump not fired Comey in the first place.

Twitter users put Huckabee Sanders in her place.
