Jerry Falwell Jr.: ‘You Don’t Choose A President Based On How Good They Are’

Falwell

According to Jerry Falwell Jr., the president of Liberty University, the fact that President Donald Trump is an utterly immoral leader is not a big deal, because a president isn’t chosen for how “good” he is.

In an extensive interview Falwell gave to The Washington Post, the evangelical leader who has enthusiastically supported Trump no matter what he says or does also played the “sinner” card to justify his embrace of a man as completely disgusting as the current American head of state:

“When Jesus said we’re all sinners, he really meant all of us, everybody. I don’t think you can choose a president based on their personal behavior.”

Falwell then went on to add:

“Because even if you choose the one that you think is the most decent — let’s say you decide Mitt Romney. Nobody could be a more decent human being, better family man. But there might be things that he’s done that we just don’t know about. So you don’t choose a president based on how good they are; you choose a president based on what their policies are. That’s why I don’t think it’s hypocritical.”

Of course, Falwell’s so-called “Christian” view of the world didn’t keep him from viciously attacking both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton anytime he had a microphone in front of him.

When Falwell was asked if there was anything Trump could do that cause him to no longer support him, he proved his own complete lack of morals by responding:

“Because I know that he only wants what’s best for this country, and I know anything he does, it may not be ideologically ‘conservative,’ but it’s going to be what’s best for this country, and I can’t imagine him doing anything that’s not good for the country,” Falwell explained.”

And Falwell also went so far as to declare that any religious leader who dares to criticize Trump is acting in an “immoral” way:

“A lot of the people who criticized me, because they had a hard time stomaching supporting someone who owned casinos and strip clubs or whatever, a lot them have come around and said, ‘Yeah, you were right.’ Some of the most prominent evangelicals in the country have said, ‘Jerry, we thought you were crazy, but now we understand.’”

Here’s another thing it’s easy to understand: When you hear pretend Christians like Jerry Falwell Jr. spout out crap the way they do, there can no longer be any question why millions of Americans no longer attend church or have any respect for “religious leaders.”
