Meghan McCain gets schooled by her co-host when she defends Steve Mnuchin’s rude comments to Maxine Waters

Sunny Hostin, co-host of “The View,” let her fellow host Meghan McCain know Wednesday on the show that the dust-up in Congress yesterday between Treasury Secretary Steve Mnucnin and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) was not the fault of the congresswoman, and she also made it clear that Mnuchin is a whiny little jerk.

The debate began when conservative co-host Abby Huntsman tried to suggest that Waters might have been trying to provoke Mnuchin:

“I’m not a fan of Mnuchin. (But) she said recently if you see anybody from the Trump Cabinet out you get out and create a crowd, you push back and say they’re not welcome anymore anywhere. How does that bring us together? If you see (Gen. James) Mattis at a table and say you get out? A man who served our country.”

Hostin, however, was having none of it, remarking:

“I see her as a symbol of decorum, I see her as a woman who’s very strong. She’s served in Congress for over 25 years. I see her a symbol of the civil rights movement.”

McCain then decided she’d side with Huntsman and try to blame Waters, telling Hostin:

“It’s a horrible place where we are in society. We try to hold ourselves to a different standard than President Trump. I understand your anger, I share your anger about the way President Trump conducts himself. I don’t agree with, if you see someone in a restaurant you should surround them — it seems dangerous.

“There was a time that Ronald Reagan was shot and Tip O’Neill went to his bedside and prayed with him. I yearn for that time. I hope we can move past this, and this isn’t the threshold that we’ve hit that there’s no way to come back from.”

Hostin, however, was quick to return the face-off between Mnuchin and Waters, reminding McCain:

“We’re talking about things that perhaps Maxine Waters said outside the meeting. Let’s talk about what happened in the hearing, which is Mnuchin being disrespectful in the meeting.”

Exactly! Mnuchin acted like a spoiled child who had just been told he wouldn’t be allowed to leave class early and Waters reminded him that she controlled the committee and the schedule. If anyone needs an attitude adjustment, it’s Mnuchin, who clearly thinks the rules don’t apply to him.
