With new polls suggesting that Democrats may indeed be on the verge of retaking control of the House of Representatives in Tuesday’s midterm election, President Donald Trump appears to be losing his already tenuous grip on reality.
Sunday morning, Trump claimed via Twitter that his approval rating with African-Americans is at 40 percent, a “record” for a president:
New Fox Poll shows a “40% Approval Rating by African Americans for President Trump, a record for Republicans.” Thank you, a great honor!

As is so often the case, Trump got it all wrong, as Aaron Blake of the Washington Post noted:
It’s actually a Rasmussen poll that a Fox columnist uncritically passed along. https://t.co/f73unNvQ6y https://t.co/0kG0SXu6uT

Rasmussen, it should be noted, is an ultra conservative polling company with almost zero credibility among anyone but hardcore right-wingers who also believe that Sean Hannity is a journalist.
Trump’s actual approval rating among black Americans is, according to reliable polls, stands at 10-15 percent.
Also, it’s interesting to note that this latest tweet from Trump comes just 48 hours after a report in which his former attorney, Michael Cohen, said the president had told him “black people are too stupid to vote for me.”
The responses from social media to the president’s ridiculous assertion were on point:
‘New Fox Poll shows a “40% Approval Rating by African Americans for President Trump’
Or… ‘Trump Invents Poll: No ‘New Fox Poll’ Shows ‘40% Approval’ From African Americans’ ?https://t.co/cyx1az5XO3

“New Fox Polls” also show: 62% of kids prefer bleu cheese to American; 87% of dogs hate chasing cats; 74% of people prefer drinking pickle juice over water; and 97% of teachers think they’re under-worked and over-paid.

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
Why not just go all in in say 50-75% a lie is a lie
Hell your approval rating for the last two years barely stay in 40% area. And you want us believe you have Approval rating of 40% amongst blacks,

That number isn’t great when you consider FOX only polled Silk and Diamond.
I wonder which one is the 40? pic.twitter.com/Z0dmQKfXOn

Awww, bless your heart. Putting stock in a Fox News Poll, that’s so cute.

If Donald Trump truly wants to see the American people stand behind him in record numbers when it comes to his actions as president, there’s one thing he can do: Resign.
