Midterm Meltdown: Trump Claims ‘Record’ Approval Rating Among African-Americans

With new polls suggesting that Democrats may indeed be on the verge of retaking control of the House of Representatives in Tuesday’s midterm election, President Donald Trump appears to be losing his already tenuous grip on reality.

Sunday morning, Trump claimed via Twitter that his approval rating with African-Americans is at 40 percent, a “record” for a president:

As is so often the case, Trump got it all wrong, as Aaron Blake of the Washington Post noted:

Rasmussen, it should be noted, is an ultra conservative polling company with almost zero credibility among anyone but hardcore right-wingers who also believe that Sean Hannity is a journalist.

Trump’s actual approval rating among black Americans is, according to reliable polls, stands at 10-15 percent.

Also, it’s interesting to note that this latest tweet from Trump comes just 48 hours after a report in which his former attorney, Michael Cohen, said the president had told him “black people are too stupid to vote for me.”

The responses from social media to the president’s ridiculous assertion were on point:

If Donald Trump truly wants to see the American people stand behind him in record numbers when it comes to his actions as president, there’s one thing he can do: Resign.
