Mike Huckabee: LGBT Americans are the ‘biggest threat’ to this country

Huckabee

According to former Arkansas governor and failed GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, the single biggest threat to the United States isn’t climate change, terrorism, or financial collapse. Instead, he maintains, it’s the LGBT community.

In an interview with The Christian Post, Huckabee claimed that America’s moral decline began with no-fault divorces in the 1970s and culminated with the Supreme Court decision in 2015 that legalized same-sex marriage:

“That’s when we first started losing that sense of sacredness of what marriage meant. So I’m not really that surprised that same sex-marriage has become in vogue because the Christian Church were the ones who essentially abdicated a strict responsibility about what biblical marriage should look like.

“Once you’ve destroyed that, why can’t you have any and everything? The gender dysphoria we’re seeing today is largely due to the fact that the Church has failed to present very clearly the words of Jesus and Genesis 5:2: ‘Male and female He created them.’”

And that’s when Huckabee dropped his “biggest threat” line:

“The biggest threat to biblical principles today is the failure to apply a biblical standard of maleness and femaleness. We are creating this illusion that there is no gender, there is no identity, and I’m blaming the Christian Church.”

Of course, Huckabee completely neglected to mention that the United States isn’t a theocracy and we don’t run this country based on what the Bible or any other religious book says. Imagine his own horror if suddenly we began applying the Koran to everything in society. He’d be screaming and demanding an immediate change.

Oh, and the former Fox host also said that we need to stop be so “politically correct” and instead shame people for things they do in their private lives:

“People are afraid that if they are really biblical, it will alienate people and I think that’s nonsense. Yes, it will alienate some people who are more interested in preserving the lifestyle they have chosen than a lifestyle that will be practical and will work. But it will also be a lifesaver for the people who are really looking for genuine truth.”

What genuine truth, Mike? The one on your holy book, or perhaps the one in the Bhagavad Gita of the Hindu faith? Maybe we need to go back to the Old Testament days of stoning those we consider “immoral.” No doubt Huckabee would be first in line to cast the first stone, completely ignoring the advice from his savior that only a man without sin can judge another.

Huckabee and his ilk are relics of a time long gone in this country when repression was maintained via law by the government. And now they’re scared because it’s not 1950 anymore. Maybe they need to find a nice deserted island somewhere and go live there instead of trying to impose their “morality” on the rest of us.
