Ocasio-Cortez torches Trump for his repeated “nasty” comments about women

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has chimed in on President Donald Trump’s use of the word “nasty” to describe Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle over remarks she made about him in 2016.

At a time when Trump had already referred to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as a “nasty woman” during a nationally televised debate, Markle slammed him for being “divisive” and “misogynistic” during an appearance on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.

“Of course Trump is divisive—think about female voters alone,” she said. “I think it was in 2012, the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points. That’s a huge number and as misogynistic as Trump is—and so vocal about it—that’s a huge chunk of it.”

She had also threatened to leave the United States if Trump won the election. He did. And she basically followed through on that threat by moving to England and marrying Prince Harry.

It’s been three years since Markle made those remarks and they are still very true today, which is one reason why she is not meeting with Trump alongside the rest of the Royal family during his visit to the United Kingdom later this month.

But in response to her remarks during a recent interview ahead of his trip, Trump demonstrated why the Royal family is making a mistake by associating with him in any way.

“I didn’t know that… No, I hope she is OK,” Trump said of her remarks, suggesting she’s not mentally healthy. “I didn’t know that, no. So what can I say? No, I didn’t know that she was nasty.”

There’s the word again. Nasty. It’s Trump’s way of insulting women he doesn’t like. He’s since denied that he ever said it but he’s lying as usual.

On Saturday, Ocasio-Cortez slammed him for being a misogynist and helpfully defined what misogynists like Trump mean when they call a woman “nasty.”

Meghan Markle and Ocasio-Cortez understand that Trump is a monster and a sexist pig who doesn’t deserve the high honor of having tea with the Queen. He shouldn’t get to step one toe inside Buckingham Palace and he certainly is not fit to be president. He has repeatedly disgraced the office he holds and has embarrassed our country. If anything, Markle is showing us how we should all deal with Trump.
