Rick Wilson savagely rips Trump for attacking Puerto Rico as hurricane threat looms

President Donald Trump should be working to help Puerto Rico ahead of a new hurricane that is threatening the island of American citizens. Instead, he’s attacking them. And GOP strategist Rick Wilson was having none of it.

It was only two years ago when Hurricane Maria slammed into the island and devastated it, knocking out the electrical grid and racking up a death toll of 3,000 people.

Puerto Rico is still recovering from the damage done, especially since the island has been hindered by Trump taking emergency aid away and not doing nearly enough to provide assistance, even going so far as to deny that 3,000 died on his watch.

And now, Tropical Storm Dorian looks to pound Puerto Rico again and the island is on a hurricane watch, all while residents hope that the damage is minimal this time because they certainly can’t count on Trump to do his job and come to their rescue.

In fact, Trump appeared to blame Puerto Rico for the coming storm on Tuesday in a Twitter post in which he once again lied about Puerto Rico getting $92 billion in disaster relief funding last year.

NBC reports that the hurricane caused $90 billion worth of damages, but Congress has only allocated $42 billion for relief aid. So far, Puerto Rico has only received $14 billion of it.

Trump’s shameless attack and his lie was enough to cause Rick Wilson to blow his top in a response using strong language.

Even San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz fired back at Trump during a phone interview with ABC News.

“The president continues to express lies because the truth really does not suit him,” she said. “It seems like some people have learned the lessons of the past or are willing to say that they didn’t do right by us the first time and they are trying to do their best. That is not the case with the president of the United States. So get out of the way, President Trump, and let the people that can do the job get the job done.”

But we all know Trump is not going to get out of the way. He’s just going to make things worse. After all, he really is just “300 pounds of shit poured into a suit.”
