Right-wing Christian links Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders to Satan in loony rant (VIDEO)

Right-wing commentator Chris McDonald went out on a tiny limb during his program Sunday, attacking elected officials like Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for having political agendas that, he said, are “of the devil,” Right Wing Watch reports.

“God does not like evil tyranny destroying people and destroying a nation,” he declared. “It is God’s fight, folks. This is not our fight, this is his fight. He wants America free. He doesn’t want it under the bonds of socialism and communism. He wants men to be free to worship God.”

But wait, he’s not content to stop there:

“God is a god of freedom. He is not a god of communistic and socialism ideology,” he said. “All of that is of the devil … when you hear Bernie Sanders and these other politicians out there espousing how great these things are — folks, I’m not trying to disparage them personally, but that theology, that ideology, it’s of Satan.”

Perhaps he needs to re-read the definition of theology. Because, as noted by Merriam-Webster, theology is “the study of religious faith, practice, and experience.” Further, it is described as “a theological theory or system.”

So what about Communism, as described by Merriam Webster?

“A system in which goods are owned in common and are available to all as needed.”

The famed dictionary also describes it as a “theory advocating elimination of private property.”

And it defines socialism as “any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.”

Theology, communism, and socialism are three horses of very different colors and it would be nice if people like McDonald would remember this before going full-tilt bombast on YouTube.

But instead, he blames Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez for believing something that they have never shown any indication of believing.

“That’s Satan’s theology,” he posits. “Bernie’s theology is of the devil. Ocasio-Cortez’s theology is of Satan … this is a spiritual war, folks. That is a spirit. Let me tell you, all of these things that you hear about when you hear [socialism], it’s more than an ideology, it’s a spirit. The communist thing, it’s a spirit, it’s a principality that takes up residence over nations and causes entire nations to be controlled by it. That’s the kind of war we’re fighting.”

Ocasio-Cortez has called for Congress to defund the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. She’s refuted right-wingers who criticized her Green New Deal proposal which promotes renewable energy sources over coal and oil. She stands for the rights of prison inmates and immigrants, two groups which make religious conservatives like McDonald quite nervous.

Sanders stands for the rights of the poor and middle class. He’s clashed with Big Pharma and has helped young people such as Ocasio-Cortez find their way.

McDonald certainly has the right to criticize Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez. It would just be nice if he would get his facts straight before losing his mind on YouTube — which is on full display in the video below.
