President Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani is using the Mueller report as an excuse to call for an actual witch hunt, this time to persecute Trump’s critics who supposedly “made up” evidence of collusion in an effort to take Trump down.
As White House aides claim that Trump reportedly plans to demand his critics and political opponents are fired by various organizations and investigations be started against them, Giuliani appeared on Fox News to claim that the Russia investigation, despite its legitimacy, is a conspiracy.
“The reality is, the question now is, if there was no evidence of collusion, three investigations, no evidence of collusion — who made it up?” Giuliani said. “It had to come from somewhere, it didn’t just come out of thin air. I want to know who did it, who paid for it, who fueled it, because the person who did it and the group that did it knows it’s untrue because they invented it.”

This is a very dangerous path Trump and Giuliani are going down.
Rather than simply accept that the Russia investigation was legitimate and celebrate that Trump once again escaped justice, Trump and his cronies seem to be preparing to trigger a vengeance campaign that will target his critics and political opponents under the guise that one of them made up false collusion evidence. If the American people want to know what a real witch hunt looks like, Trump and Giuliani are apparently about to hold a demonstration.
The fact is that the report doesn’t even totally exonerate Trump as he claims. And Mueller’s investigation was so narrow that he could not run a proper probe as Congress can.
Furthermore, Attorney General William Barr inserted himself into the investigation and let Trump off the hook for obstruction. He’s also the same man who called for investigating Hillary Clinton prior to becoming Trump’s new DOJ crony. And now that he’s in that position, he can make Trump’s witch hunt a reality and turn the Justice Department into a political weapon, thus taking another step toward outright fascism.
