It’s being called the ultimate “f*ck you” clap in American history, and it was masterfully delivered by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) during the State of the Union Address (SOTU) on Tuesday night in response to his hypocritical call to reject revenge politics.
During the SOTU, Trump pleaded for unity and compromise as he called for rejecting the “politics of revenge,” drawing immediate laughter and mockery across the country as Trump has been nothing but vengeful since taking office two years ago. House Democrats sat largely in silence in response to the line. But Pelosi took a much different approach that ended up being more memorable than Trump’s speech. In fact, it’s so iconic that it became an instant hit on social media.
Pelosi stood and began clapping with outstretched arms in Trump’s face and the look on her face was priceless as Trump turned to look at her.
