Iranians took to the streets to protest the hardline government. Shortly afterward, Donald Trump made an ass of himself.
The Iranian government once again faces a groundswell of angry citizens, including women, who protested by taking off their hijabs.
With shouts of “death” to the nation’s rulers, including President Rouhani and Ayatollah Khomenei, it’s clear that a lot of Iranians have had enough of extremism running their country.
What’s ironic is Trump’s response.

Yep, Trump described the Iranian government as “corrupt” and accused them of “squandering” the nation’s wealth just one week after signing a tax law that shifts trillions of dollars from the American middle class and poor to the wealthy. Not to mention, the tweet came from Mar-a-Lago – just one of the Trump resorts where the president has wasted tens of millions of taxpayer dollars playing golf.
And let’s not forget that he colluded with Russia to win the 2016 Election, has acted as a puppet for Putin ever since taking office, and is the subject of an investigation that has ensnared at least four members of his campaign or administration. Furthermore, Trump has repeatedly attacked our law enforcement and intelligence agencies, wants to squash the free press, and lies constantly. Trump’s own administration is one of the most corrupt in American history.
It should also be pointed out that millions of Americans have been protesting Trump, including millions who marched in Washington the day after his inauguration. More protests are planned for January.
So, Trump’s tweet probably was not a very good idea.
But the icing on the cake for this one is: he didn’t even bother crafting an original message. You see, Sarah Huckabee Sanders wrote the exact same tweet several hours earlier on Friday. Trump posted his on Saturday.

This kind of copy and paste job is pathetic, especially for someone who dares to call himself “president.”
