Trump Makes Sh*t Up About Obama And Iran In Desperate Effort To Get What He Wants

President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to demand wall funding again, this time using a terrorist attack in France as an excuse before making sh*t up about former President Barack Obama and Iran to attack Democrats.

On Tuesday, Trump made a fool of himself in front of the cameras as he threatened to shut down the government if he doesn’t get his way on wall funding.

“I am proud to shut down the government for border security,” Trump told Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). “I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. I’m not going to blame you for it.”

It was a major mistake as Democrats were seen as the adults in the room. Trump would storm out of the Oval Office after the meeting and throw a hissy fit.

Rather than admit defeat on this issue, Trump stooped even lower to argue for his wall funding by using a terrorist attack in France as an excuse.

The attack was perpetrated by a lone gunman in Strasbourg on the French-German border. However, he was not an immigrant. He was born in France, making him a French citizen. The man had apparently been radicalized in prison but had not been considered a violent threat by law enforcement until now.

But the point is that the shooter was not an immigrant, so a border wall would have been useless to stop violence just as a border wall would be useless to stop violence in the United States since most mass shootings over the years have been committed by right-wing domestic terrorists.

Trump continued to excuse his demand for $5 billion in wall funding by bringing up Obama and Iran.

But this is an outrageous lie.

First of all, the figure is not even close to $150 billion. Trump made that up all by himself with zero evidence to back up his claim. It turns out that the real figure is between $25 billion and $50 billion, according to Politifact, which has previously debunked this particular Trump lie.

In addition, the money was already Iran’s to begin with.

It’s important to know that little of that money was under the control of the United States or any U.S. bank. Most of it…was in central and commercial banks overseas. Furthermore, it was Iran’s money to begin with, not a payment from any government to buy Iran’s cooperation.

Trump had also claimed at the time that Obama gave $1.8 billion. However, it was actually $1.7 billion and as Politifact points out:

That was the amount that U.S. and Iranian negotiators settled on to resolve an arms contract between the United States and Iran that predated the Iranian revolution in 1979. Iran had paid for military equipment, and it was never delivered.

As of 1990, there were $400 million in that account. Negotiators agreed that accrued interest would add $1.3 billion to the amount, which is a lot of money — but 25 years is a long time for interest to build up the balance.

In other words, Iran expected the United States to honor a deal that was never completed on our end over two decades ago, and unlike Trump, who often bilks contractors, Obama settled the debt we owed with interest.

And everything Obama did was designed to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, a deal that Iran is still complying with despite Trump withdrawing the United States from it.

So, Obama and the Democrats did not give the Iranians anything but their own money and money that was already owed to them. Trump is demanding billions of dollars from already struggling American taxpayers to build a useless wall, all while claiming that we don’t have the money for healthcare and other more important things.

It’s absolutely pathetic that Trump will go to such undignified lengths to get his way. Thankfully, the facts are clear that Trump is full of sh*t and most Americans know it.
