A supporter of President Donald Trump defended his attempt to pressure Ukraine into launching a frivolous investigation against former Vice President Joe Biden on Sunday, only to get buried on MSNBC in response.
It has been revealed that Trump dangled a promise of financial and military support to Ukraine if President Volodymyr Zelensky would open an investigation against Biden in order to dig up dirt he could use against him during the 2020 election should Biden become the Democratic nominee.
Trump’s use of tax dollars to fund opposition research and his effort to collude with Ukraine to hurt his top political opponent are illegal acts, and prosecutors in Ukraine say that there’s no evidence Biden did anything wrong. But that’s not stopping Liberty Government Affairs founder Brian Darling from pushing the fake scandal.
In response to Biden’s statement condemning Trump’s actions and demanding the release of the whistleblower complaint that details the phone call between Trump and Zelensky, Darling continued accusing Biden of wrongdoing.
“Hey, if I was Joe Biden I would be yelling, too,” Darling began. “Because this is a real scandal. The fact that Joe Biden’s son amassed $3 million working for a natural gas company in Ukraine when he has no experience in natural gas, he has no expertise in regulatory affairs in the Ukraine and what did his dad do? His dad was Vice-President of the United States overseeing Ukraine policy and threatened to withhold money, a billion dollars in aid to Ukraine if they didn’t fire the prosecutor that was investigating that company. I would be screaming, I would be pointing my finger at President Trump because I would be angry and scared that this could end my campaign.”
Again, prosecutors have cleared Biden and there is no evidence of impropriety.
However, Bishop Garrison of the Rainey Center for Public Policy responded to Darling by pointing out how scandalous Trump’s actions are and why Biden and Americans are really angry.
“Yeah, I think a lot of Americans would be angry as the vice president is, but I think for absolutely different reasons than what Brian just laid out,” Garrison said. “I think they would be very upset that the president of the United States is targeting a family member of a political opponent. This is the type of thing that happens in a banana republic. This is not something that happens or should happen in the United States. If prosecutors or if a political opponent was coming after any member of Trump’s family in this type of manner, he would be livid, he would be on Twitter, he would be in the news cursing and damning that person completely and totally. So for him to turn around and use this as a political tool is just beneath comment.”

Indeed, Trump has repeatedly complained about House Democrats investigating him and his family. It should also be pointed out that Trump’s agenda has been primarily about enriching himself and his family, which has resulted in several conflicts of interest, which is why an Emoluments lawsuit against him is currently moving forward in federal court.
Clearly, Trump’s supporters are going to continue trying to make this all about Biden in order to distract from the fact that Trump actively attempted to pressure a foreign government into getting involved in the 2020 Election to help him beat his top political opponent. That’s the real crime here.
