On Saturday evening, President Donald Trump angrily announced a new immigration policy to close the U.S.-Mexico border that flies in the face of a federal judge’s ruling on the issue.
Trump posted these two tweets Saturday night from Mar-a-Lago:
Migrants at the Southern Border will not be allowed into the United States until their claims are individually approved in court. We only will allow those who come into our Country legally. Other than that our very strong policy is Catch and Detain. No “Releasing” into the U.S…

….All will stay in Mexico. If for any reason it becomes necessary, we will CLOSE our Southern Border. There is no way that the United States will, after decades of abuse, put up with this costly and dangerous situation anymore!

Trump’s new “policy” on immigration contradicts a ruling from U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar. On Monday, according to USA Today, Tigar handed down a ruling that was a direct slap at the administration. In his order, Tigar wrote:
“The rule barring asylum for immigrants who enter the country outside a port of entry irreconcilably conflicts with the INA and the expressed intent of Congress. Whatever the scope of the President’s authority, he may not rewrite the immigration laws to impose a condition that Congress has expressly forbidden.”
Earlier in the day Saturday, the White House bragged that they had reached a deal with Mexico to allow immigration seekers to remain in Mexico as they wait for their asylum claims to be heard in the U.S.
But Mexican officials say no such agreement has been made. Interior minister, Olga Sánchez Cordero said in a statement:
“No agreement of any kind exists between Mexico’s future federal government and the United States of America.
“The future government is not considering in its plans that Mexico assumes the role of ‘safe third country’ for Central American migrants or [migrants] from other countries, who find themselves in Mexican territory.”
Trump’s tweets were also slammed by others on social media:
Every time you tweet you want to break the law I will remind you of your own laws.

The courts will overrule you again. God bless the Judiciary. If we make it out of this debacle in one piece it will be thanks to them.

Anyone notice how Trump ramps up the migrant crisis whenever there’s an election looming, but as soon as the ballots are counted he goes silent? ?
