Trump Whines About Being The Real Victim Of Mail Bombs In Unhinged 3 AM Tweet

midterm election

It was only a matter of time before President Donald Trump made the recent package bombs mailed to Democratic political figures and media outlets about himself, and he even managed to try and assert that he’s the real victim.

At 2:48 a.m., Trump sent out what sounded like a half-formed tweet:

“Funny how lowly rated CNN and others can criticize.”

That tweet was quickly deleted and replaced with a more expansive and defensive one:

Keep in mind that that CNN’s world headquarters in New York City had to be evacuated on Wednesday when a pipe bomb addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan was discovered in the mail room. But in Trump’s mind, CNN is to blame for his being so unpopular and an abject failure as president.

Friday morning on CNN, John Avlon of The Daily Beast noted that Trump “is playing the victim card and he can get armies of trolls and bots to support him, and he plays the victim and it’s fascinating and disturbing.”

CNN host Alisyn Camerota agreed with Avlon, adding:

“What is baffling about that role is that he thinks that being the president is the same as being a cable news pundit. The two are on the same plain for him. He equates those, and that’s just an interesting look at his psyche and how the president can feel so impotent.”

Social media users were also alarmed by Trump’s late-night posting:

Poor little Donnie. He desperately wants everyone to love him, but no one ever has and no one ever will.
