Today, 16 states are suing the Trump administration over Trump’s declaration of a national emergency to get his border wall built. The House is expected to vote on possibly overturning his declaration, and Democrats need to pick up only four Republican votes, but Trump has promised to veto any attempt to block his order. Of course, there is no real emergency at the border, but Trump is doubling down on his fabricated story there is a crisis.
Meanwhile, a bipartisan group of fifty-eight former national security officials has come together to issue their own statement rebuking Trump’s trumped up “emergency.”
“Under no plausible assessment of the evidence is there a national emergency today that entitles the president to tap into funds appropriated for other purposes to build a wall at the southern border,” the statement will say, according to The Post.
Morning Joe hosts, Joe and Mika examined Trump’s a.m. Tweet in which he continued to outright lie about the situation.
“We have a State of Emergency at our Southern Border. Border Patrol, our Military and local Law Enforcement are doing a great job, but without the Wall, which is now under major construction, you cannot have Border Security. Drugs, Gangs and Human Trafficking must be stopped!”

As Mika Brzezinski started to read Trump’s obviously false Tweet aloud, Joe Scarborough couldn’t help but interject.
Mika: “…without the Wall, which is now under major construction…”
Joe: “No, it’s not. Absolutely everything…everything in this Tweet is a lie.”
“Absolutely everything in the Tweet is a lie. He puts up border wall fencing that was done before by Barack Obama and other people that he’s fixing up and claiming that he’s building a new wall. He’s claiming there’s a crisis at the border. He’s claiming there’s a crisis of immigrants illegally coming over the border…,” said Scarborough.
“It’s at a fifty year low, and as far as crime goes, we’ve said it time and again: The reality is, Trump administration numbers will show you that actually more native-born Americans commit crimes than people who immigrate to this country either legally or illegally,” he continued.
“It’s just the big lie.”
Mika was clearly exasperated, as we all are, that Donald Trump continues to fabricate pure lies and sell them as if we don’t know they are such. His wall of lies is very real, but the border wall he needs to humor his racist base will probably never be fully realized. Even if it is, it will only be a monument to delusion and racism.
