British Government Is Afraid Of A Trump Tantrum Over Royal Wedding

The British government is begging Prince Harry not to invite former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle to his wedding next year because they don’t want to enrage Donald Trump.

Last month, the Prince and American actress Meghan Markle announced their engagement and immediately sparked speculation about who will receive invitations to the wedding, which will be held next year.

People mainly wondered if President Obama and his wife would be on the guest list, especially considering Markle supported him during his presidential campaigns and he has become chummy with Prince Harry.

Obama congratulated the happy couple on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Trump has not said a word about it, though it is unlikely he will receive an invitation since Markle hates his guts.

Markle has been critical of Trump for the way he has treated women.

Prince Harry and Markle have reportedly told aides that they want the Obamas at their wedding, which is making the British government freak out.

According to The Sun,

The 33-year-old prince has become good friends with the Obamas since bonding with them during the Invictus Games.

But Britain’s relations with Trump’s White House have sunk to their lowest ebb since his election last year.

The property billionaire does not hide his loathing of Mr Obama and is expected to be enraged if his predecessor gets the coveted call up when he won’t.

In other words, the British government is trying to tell Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who they can and cannot invite to their wedding because they fear Trump will get jealous and lash out like a petulant child, which he will likely do since he is obsessed with Obama.

“Harry has made it clear he wants the Obamas at the wedding, so it’s causing a lot of nervousness,” a senior government source said. “Trump could react very badly if the Obamas get to a Royal wedding before he has had a chance to meet the Queen.”

Indeed, Trump has not even made an official state visit to the United Kingdom, but he only has himself to blame. Rather than man-up and travel there, Trump declined to visit until the British people will lavish him with praise and cheer for him as he rides to Buckingham Palace in a gold carriage he demanded.

But the British government does not have much say in royal wedding invitations. Of course, they could ban Obama from entering the country, but that would touch off a very public firestorm, especially considering that the British Parliament has refused to bar Trump from entering the nation despite a petition with nearly two million signatures calling on them to do just that.

The British government should be ashamed of themselves for trying to pressure Prince Harry and Meghan Markle into not inviting the Obamas to their wedding. By doing so, they are cowering to Trump out of blind fear. If the Obamas are not allowed to attend the wedding now, Trump will brag about it and make things worse for the British government and Prime Minister Theresa May. Handling a temper tantrum from Trump would be easier than dealing with a national uproar at home.
