President Donald Trump drew the ire of Kellyanne Conway’s husband George Conway on Sunday morning amid reports Trump has dumped former White House counsel Don McGahn’s law firm in retaliation for testifying to Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
George Conway, an attorney himself, has already called for Congress to impeach Trump in response to the damning Mueller report. And he doubled down on that call by urging Congress to subpoena “everyone and everything” related to the retaliatory campaign Trump is waging against current and former members of his administration who cooperated with the Russia investigation, pointing out that retaliation is also an impeachable offense.
The House Judiciary Committee should subpoena everyone and everything relating to this. Any efforts by Trump to retaliate against witnesses in the Special Counsel’s investigation would constitute additional impeachable offenses … https://t.co/bIEDgpGwk9

… as well as, potentially, additional criminal charges after Trump is removed from or otherwise leaves office.

Former federal prosecutor Mimi Rocah supported Conway’s call by citing the law itself.

Just hours before Conway’s tweet, his wife appeared on Fox News with Jeanine Pirro to insist that the public has “no appetite” for impeachment.
“The Democrats and their friends in the media have wasted so much time looking for a way to get him out of office and really diminish him to the American people and it has had the opposite effect — the media’s numbers are way down,” she said. “You’ve got no lesser souls than Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer and some of the 2020 Democratic presidential field saying, ‘Oh no, we’re not talking about impeachment, we’re not having that conversation right now.’ They know that there is not a public appetite for more of this.”
However, she then tried to justify Trump’s retaliatory campaign.
“But perhaps there is a public appetite for knowing how this all started in the first place — investigating the investigators,” she concluded.

Since the Mueller report was released, Trump’s poll numbers have fallen to a new low, something Kellyanne conveniently left out of her rant. Impeachment calls are now coming from prominent conservatives across the country, including from her own husband, and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) became the first 2020 Democratic presidential candidate to call for impeachment with others surely to follow.
As more Americans begin to understand just how damning the Mueller report is and how Trump is reacting to it, not like an innocent man, but as a vengeful criminal who knows he’s been busted, the more support for impeachment will rise until Democrats can no longer ignore it. Trump is toast and Conway would be better off resigning now or doing her job by counseling Trump not to commit further violations of the law.
