Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (R-N.Y.) captured the hearts of dog-owners everywhere after she posted a video of herself being “snuggle ambushed” by a dog who got away from their owner to greet the freshman congressman as she was on the phone.
While sitting against a wall making a phone call, the dog clearly wanted to greet the progressive lawmaker and had no problem pulling away from their owner to give Ocasio-Cortez some puppy love.
Here’s the video via Twitter.

Ocasio-Cortez then shared it on her own feed.

Twitter users fell head over heels for the moment and also couldn’t help but point out that President Donald Trump does not get the same reaction from animals.
Dogs always know who the good people are.

Dogs are a better judge of human character than we are. We need to find a way to give them the vote. #dogs

Trump is the first president to not have a pet of any kind in the White House, and during a recent rally, he claimed that owning a dog would be “phony,” clearly suggesting that he doesn’t like animals.
“I wouldn’t mind having one, honestly, but I don’t have any time,” said the man who spends most of his days in “executive time” or playing golf at Mar-a-Lago.
“How would I look walking a dog on the White House lawn? Would that be right?” he asked. “I don’t know. Feels a little phony, phony to me.”
What’s not phony is that dogs love Ocasio-Cortez and she loves them back. It’s the kind of love that Trump will never understand.
