Ted Cruz whines that ‘unhinged’ Democrats have gone ‘bat-crap crazy’ on the border wall

According to Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), the reason Congressional Democrats are fighting back against President Donald Trump’s declaration of a national emergency to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border is because the Democrats are “unhinged” and have gone “bat-crap crazy.”

Speaking at the annual CPAC conference, Cruz said opposition to the border wall makes no sense at all to him:

“I think there’s a technical description of what’s going on, it’s that Democrats have gone bat-crap crazy.

“Now, their position is don’t secure the border at all, let everybody in and have amnesty. Here’s their reasoning. Trump wants a wall, we hate Trump, therefore no wall, that’s it.”

Actually, Democrats have made the reason for their opposition to building a wall very clear and it has nothing to do with what Cruz asserted. The president is also trying to reallocate money budgeted for another purpose — the military — to build his wall. But the Constitution clearly states that only Congress has that power. And dozens of states — along with plenty of Congressional Republicans — have also noted that the wall simply doesn’t constitute a national emergency.

The Texas senator also tried to paint Democrats as extremists on the issues even though his party is the one that lost the midterm election and continues to poll extremely low when it comes to issues such as health care, the economy, and foreign policy:

“They’re getting more and more and more extreme on every issue.

“We’re going to see a crazed assault from the left, more unhinged than anything we have seen.”

Let’s see: Democrats want to make sure every American has affordable health insurance, make sure the rich pay their fair share of taxes, protect the environment, and return civility to the country. Sounds like the kind of platform that got Barack Obama elected twice and will very likely lead to victory in 2020.

If Cruz wants to see truly “unhinged” and “extreme” political thought, he doesn’t have to look any further than the nearest mirror.
