On Saturday, President Donald Trump attempted to blame the deaths of two immigrant children on Democrats, and he was quickly shredded by Twitter for making such a patently ridiculous accusation.
Here’s the offensive tweets Trump sent out Saturday afternoon:
Any deaths of children or others at the Border are strictly the fault of the Democrats and their pathetic immigration policies that allow people to make the long trek thinking they can enter our country illegally. They can’t. If we had a Wall, they wouldn’t even try! The two…..

…children in question were very sick before they were given over to Border Patrol. The father of the young girl said it was not their fault, he hadn’t given her water in days. Border Patrol needs the Wall and it will all end. They are working so hard & getting so little credit!

But Jakelin Caal, age 7, and Felipe Gómez Alonzo, 8, died in the custody of Customs and Border Enforcement agents, not at the hands of Democrats.
Trump was roundly chastised for trying to score political points off the deaths of two children:
This is pretty depraved but also an amazing window into his mind. It’s not that the government bureaucracy has failed or the system is overwhelmed and needs to be changed. It’s that his opponents are to blame. https://t.co/mJqhkUXFnC

Trump translation:
I will do nothing to stop children from dying unless you give me what I want.

It’s really painful to have a President who truly has no compassion. He is right out of a horror movie. When he is finally gone people will speak much more openly about what a monster he is. https://t.co/MsqadbrWdJ

If you thought we’d get out of 2018 without Trump using the troops and dead children as props…sorry! https://t.co/vKsdoIQ9uT

No, Mr. Trump, the children didn’t die because there is no wall. They died because of your cruel, racist immigration policy. The special place in Hell for people like you who play politics with the lives of children awaits.

Donald Trump implemented a series of new policies that resulted in the deaths of two young children in a few weeks and Trump’s first comment was to blame Democrats and use their deaths to push for his “wall” rather than expressing any sympathy that two kids died in US custody.

It would be nice to think that perhaps a part of Donald Trump will feel guilty about posting such disgusting, insensitive vitriol about the deaths of two innocent children. But for that, he’d first need to have a heart and soul.
