Teacher tries to ‘Make ‘Merica Great’ by berating 2nd grader with Trumpian insults

A second-grade teacher in Pennsylvania is on the verge of being fired from her job due to insults she wrote on a student’s test paper.

Alyssa Rupp Bohenek wrote ‘absolutely pathetic’ on a second-grader’s test. The student’s father posted the teacher’s remarks on Facebook and has led to a Change.org petition being started calling for Bohenek’s dismissal from the Valley View School District.

The Daily Mail notes that the father of the student who was berated wrote this along with posting the test on social media:

“My son Kamdyn’s teacher has been so rude to him and myself all year. He comes home with this and I am beyond frustrated that someone would write this on a child’s work. Such great motivation.”

The test featured 60 subtraction problems and students were told answer as many as they could in three minutes time.

The Change.org petition has been signed by over 16,000 people so far:

School superintendent Rose Minniti said the district is investigating:

“It’s a personnel issue and the results of that are not going to be dictated by social media.

“It’s going to be dictated by the facts and evidence.

“As always with everything, we’re going to try to do what’s best for the students and what we need to do for the employee under investigation.”

What have we become in the Age of Trump? How is it ever acceptable for a teacher or any adult to insult a child who is trying his or her best to do the schoolwork assigned to them? Aren’t we supposed to encourage and mentor children?

Donald Trump isn’t solely to blame for what happened at this Pennsylvania school, but he also isn’t doing anything to discourage it. He has repeatedly attacked those who disagree with him and often accuses others of being stupid or irrelevant. This is not the way a president should speak.
