Trump Claims Everyone Indicted By Mueller Is Innocent (UPDATED)

Trump Mueller

President Donald Trump woke up in a foul mood again on Thursday morning, taking aim at Special Counsel Robert Mueller in yet another bizarre Twitter rant, this time claiming that everyone who has been indicted by the probe is somehow innocent.

Trump once again complained because Mueller and his team are not investigating Hillary Clinton, too, and accused her and the Democrats of committing crimes without offering any evidence that would warrant opening an investigation, which would have to be separate from the Russia probe anyway.

Trump went on to baselessly compare Mueller to Joseph McCarthy again, claimed the investigation is illegal and insisted that no crimes have been found and that everyone indicted so far is innocent.

These tweets are in the running for the most laughable posts Trump has scribbled yet, not to mention the most desperate.

Again, Clinton was investigated and the FBI cleared her because there was no evidence of a crime.

Furthermore, Trump compared Mueller to McCarthy on Wednesday and was thoroughly smacked down for it.

As for the cost of the investigation, Trump keeps changing the dollar amount hoping that a high enough random number will cause Americans to demand the probe come to an end. The budget for the investigation is only $10.4 million, which is mere pocket change considering Trump’s tax cuts for the rich have cost trillions. Trump’s golf outings, which have nothing to do with protecting democracy, have exceeded what Mueller has spent so far. Besides, unlike Trump’s casinos, the Mueller investigation is actually turning a profit due to the seizure of Paul Manafort’s assets.

As for his claim that everyone Mueller has indicted so far is innocent and that no crimes were committed, that is totally false. Several of Trump’s associates, including George Papadopoulos, Michael Cohen, Michael Flynn, and Robert Gates have all pleaded guilty. As has Paul Manafort after a jury convicted him of several crimes earlier this year. Innocent people don’t take plea deals and Mueller had to have strong evidence to get them.

There are so many lies within these two tweets it’s ridiculous. Trump is absolutely scared to death of Mueller and there is clearly a reason why. Innocent people welcome investigations. They certainly do not attack investigations and the people running them and they absolutely do not repeatedly refuse to answer questions. At some point, perhaps soon, Trump’s tower of lies is going to come crashing down on him as the rule of law comes knocking at his door. At that moment, one can easily imagine Trump locking himself in the White House bathroom refusing to come out as he desperately throws a temper tantrum on Twitter. And he better make it a good one because handcuffs will prevent him from tweeting anything for a long time.

UPDATE/BREAKING: Michael Cohen to plead guilty in new charge in the Mueller probe according to multiple sources including CNBC:

President Donald Trump‘s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty Thursday to lying to Congress about a real estate project in Russia, as part of a deal with special counsel Robert Mueller in the probe of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, the Associated Press reported Thursday.

Cohen made a surprise court appearance at federal court in Manhattan on Thursday morning, where he admitted to making the false statements.

In August, Cohen pleaded guilty in a separate federal case to eight criminal counts in the Southern District of New York related to tax fraud, excessive campaign contributions and making false statements to a financial institution.

Two of those charges related to his prior work for Trump, when he said that he made payments to women in 2016 at the direction of a political candidate running for office.

Neither the special counsel’s office nor Davis immediately responded to CNBC’s requests for comment.
