GOP pollster gets relentlessly mocked after blaming broken hotel elevator on European ‘socialism’

You’ve probably seen Republican pollster Frank Luntz on various cable news shows, often doing focus groups with voters to try and determine which way the political winds are blowing and issues that concern the nation.

But on Tuesday, Luntz got hit by a giant dose of karma and Twitter ridicule after he blamed a broken elevator at a hotel in Austria on “European-style socialism,” choosing to make his ignorance public for all the world to see on social media:

If Luntz had bothered to do a bit of research before he posted that tweet, he would have discovered that it’s owned by the Marriott chain, which just so happens to be headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland.

Also, what in the world does socialism have to do with whether an elevator is working? It either works or it doesn’t, and there are plenty of non-operational elevators in the United States, too.

But at least something good came out of Luntz’s faux pas: The responses he got:
