Trump lashes out at Intel officials for admitting Iran is complying with nuclear deal he withdrew from

President Donald Trump is literally attacking his own intelligence officials for admitting that Iran is complying with the nuclear deal he withdrew from, and that the only reason why Iran is considering violating it is because of Trump’s sanctions.

Trump withdrew from the Iran Nuclear Deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in May 2018 after months of claiming that Iran violated the terms of the agreement despite his own generals saying otherwise.

On Wednesday, Trump insisted that intelligence officials are “wrong” and then bragged about how he has supposedly kept Iran at bay.

Just like his earlier claims about North Korea and ISIS, intelligence officials contradicted his claims about Iran.

“We do not believe Iran is currently undertaking the key activities we judge necessary to produce a nuclear device,” Coats said, going on to warn that Iran is considering violating the deal, but only because Trump withdrew the United States from it and prevented the economic benefits Iran was supposed to receive.

“While we do not believe Iran is currently undertaking the key activities we judge necessary to produce a nuclear device, Iranian officials have publicly threatened to push the boundaries of JCPOA restrictions if Iran does not gain the tangible financial benefits it expected from the deal,” Coats continued.

CIA Director Gina Haspel agreed with that assessment.

“At the moment technically they are in compliance but we do see them debating amongst themselves as they fail to realize the economic benefits they hoped for from the deal,” she said.

So, the only reason why Iran may be a threat now is that Trump foolishly withdrew from a deal they were complying with according to American military leaders, intelligence officials, and nuclear experts at the IAEA. Trump’s move to re-impose sanctions against Iran has also forced the Iranians to consider withdrawing from the deal themselves.

As usual, Trump is only making things worse instead of making things better. Former President Obama struck a good deal with Iran in good faith to prevent them from getting a nuclear weapon. That was, and always has been, the ultimate goal in U.S.-Iranian relations. And Trump destroyed that achievement out of spite and is making the Iranians desperate enough to possibly seek nuclear weapons again. Because that’s clearly the only way Trump will play ball. After all, getting nuclear weapons worked for North Korea as Trump is heartily kissing dictator Kim Jong Un’s a**.
